Of fans for fans - the Italo side
It
was in the middle of the Swinging Sixties, when the Wild West was situated in Italy: Which had begun 1964 with Leones "A fistful
of dollars", led rapidly to the breathless renaissance of a genre, which actually already rotted on the "Boothill". At the
same time this meant the cynical end of basic US-American myths, traditionally positively occupied motives in the US Western,
as settlement and colonization or also the building of the railway. These were replaced by new aims: above all the hunt for
dollars and revenge. No place for idealism any more.
The
Spaghetti-, Makkaroni- or Italowestern brought it to little more than one handful of really great films until the middle of
the 70's. A large extent of these movies, usually produced in former Yugoslavia or in Spain, was average, and the majority
- strictly seen - was really crap. But, hey, who has not gladly rooted in the mud as a child? So let's go, Companeros! This
side offers contents and staff data and offers to you the incompetent criticism of the Gunslinger to individual films.
