In the year 1866 half a company of Yankees disappears without trace
in New Mexico. One year later the relatives of the missed get letters: Unknown kidnappers require 50,000 dollar for the release
of each soldier. After some hesitating Tom Cooper (Jack Betts), aka "Rocco", aka "Sugar Colt", pull on his boots to solve
this case. He arrives in the village Snake Valley, which is controlled by "Colonel" Harverbrook (Giuliani Raffaelli) and his
gang. Here the soldiers disbanded. Camouflaged as a physician, Rocco starts investigations, supported by Saloon owner Bess
(Jeanne Oak) and her niece Josefa (Soledad Miranda).
The Gunslinger says:
Really good film, made by Franco Giraldi in 1966. Jack Betts
supplies a successful performance as multi-talent and master of conversion: He starts as a Dandy, which leads a shooting school
for ladies; afterwards he becomes the intelligent, gentle Doc, and finally he is the bang-hard gunslinger. Soledad Miranda
plays one of her rare main roles. She got some "fame" in Europe, where she worked with Jesús ("Jess") Franco (e.g. "Vampyros
Lesbos"), before she already died in 1970 in a car accident at the age of straight 28 years. Good Score of Luis Enriquez Bacalov.
